The 5 year project is complete!
This is the first quilt I ever started...5 years ago! I did EVERYTHING wrong too! I had NO idea how to quilt when I started this, I am really not sure what I was thinking taking on a full bed size quilt as my first project.
After taking a few quilting classes I pulled it out again last year and completed sewing the top. I had sooo many problems when I began quilting it that I was going to toss the uncompleted mess after moving it from Oregon, Utah, Colorado and now to California but Dereck kept asking me to finish it anyway so I finally did...its far from perfect but it's finished! I learned a lot! And now I get to start another! :) Yay!

Machine quilting....that was the hardest part because you have to deal with so much bulk and you get a lot of "drag" from the weight while trying to quilt it.

Road Trip!
Halle and I went on a road trip to Santa Barbara with Grandma Lawrence last week...We had a wonderful time, Halle was a super traveler and I can't even begin to count the number of times I sang "the wheels on the bus go round and round" to Halle.
During the trip Halle discovered her tongue (sticking it out constantly) and her ear (grabbing it all the time) and got a lot more stable sitting up all by herself. And started eating banana I can't believe how fast she is growing up!
We had a wonderful time....my Mom was very patient traveling with both of us.
You can see pictures from our trip here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2069784&id=1409391586&l=35f5841cb6 (no facebook account required)

More Recycled Quilted Bibs!
4.5 Months and cuter than ever!
Halle is getting more and more interested in rolling over....occasionally she will roll over by accident, but most the time when she is tired of being on her tummy she just screams...
Her feet are her new favorite thing...showing off her purple camo leg warmers!

Halle is 4 months old!!!
My new obsession is...
...making bibs! So far I have made three different patterns and my favorite is the quilted bibs you will see below....I put 3 of the bibs in the mail this week to a friend who just had a baby, made a couple for Halle and now have about 4 "boy" bibs setting on the table, ready to sew!
Used a tutorial online to learn how to applique letters!

This is my favorite pattern...quilted bibs!
They come together really quickly and they are great for using scraps. I made these two bibs for Halle out of fabric I found at the thrift store. The fabric only cost 0.45 cents and I actually have enough left for another 5 bibs!
Shopping for fabric and "recycling" material from old shirts is my new source for fabric. I had been looking at "designer" fabric online for months but being that we are still saving for a house I couldn't really justify paying $10 + a yard for fabric and instead of feeling sorry for myself which I did for a few minutes...I decided that there must be a cheaper way to "feed" my sewing hobby.
And low and behold there was! Thrift Stores!
Halle modeling her new bib...I don't often put bibs on her because she doesn't relly drool or spit up much...she wasn't thrilled when I put this on her....this is the only picture I got where she wasn't trying to pull off the bib or eat it. :)
I will post the "boy" plaid bibs made from one of Dereck's old shirts tomorrow after I finish them!
